12 Christmas Wall Decor Ideas

Updated: Mar 25

Christmas is such a fun time to make your home a magical place to be. We certainly need it this year more than ever. I love to craft and make my own decorations, and if I can rope my daughter in it makes the whole thing even more special.

I have had a look around for my favourite wall decor ideas to share with you. There are a mix of decoration ideas that will fit in with most interior styles. Some can be bought and some made, but none of the below have asked me to feature them in this blog.

Enjoy - and Merry Christmas!

  1. I am loving these beautifully decorated hoops! They bring the outdoors in and give such a tasteful and stylish Christmassy feel with the mix of greenery and lights. This is something you can certainly create yourself and I will certainly be giving it a try. If you don't have time take a look at fillyourhomewithlove.com

  2. These beautiful 3D paper stars make beautiful seasonal wall décor, You can even craft them yourself! Check out Lia Griffith's book, 'Cutting Machine Crafts', to make your own version. Take a look at liagriffith.com for more paper art inspiration.

  3. Creating a cascade of Christmas ornaments like this one from danslelakehouse.com makes a wonderful seasonal display. They certainly look amazing over the fireplace, but would make a stunning focal point on any wall. You can easily make this yourself using your own Christmas colour scheme.

  4. If you are like me and you have lots of wall space just waiting for something pretty to warm your room, these fabric wall decorations make such a homely Christmassy feel. They are not expensive to make you can add the perfect fabric to match your Christmas theme. pensandneedles.com

  5. These Macrame snowflakes are amazing and make me feel so warm and happy when I look at them. If you are a crafter, or want to try out Macrame, then these snowflakes would make a seasonal addition to your home. If you don't have time, these snowflakes are made by OhMyKnot. Check their Etsy shop for more Macrame items or visit macrame.emma to learn how to macrame.

  6. Using vintage Christmas tree images in golden picture frames gives such a clean Scandinavian feel to your home, and is perfect way to fill that blank Christmas wall without being too 'Christmassy'. You can make your own seasonal pictures or download these for free from blesserhouse.com.

  7. Who doesn't love Christmas hymns and songs? A quick, easy and inexpensive way to add a touch of rustic farmhouse Christmas charm to your home! Make your own from your favourite Christmas music or take a look at HootandaHoller to download or buy.

  8. I am on Instagram quite a bit, but when I came across livingatthelodge_ own Christmas decorations around her fireplace it was an instant 'wow!' Gemma's home made garland mixed with the stars and greenery against her dark backdrop just makes me want to snuggle up on the sofa with a hot chocolate and watch my favourite Christmas movie.

  9. Christmas cards come in all shapes and sizes and can be difficult to display. If you are looking for a new way to display them try this card Christmas tree created by thekrazycouponlady.com. Any excuse for me to use card pegs and brighten up a dull and boring wall!

  10. Christmas is a great time to spend with family and remember all the amazing things you have done throughout the year. Using your families loved photographs is a fun and modern way to create a Christmas tree. It is also a wonderful way to include those who are no longer with us. This one was created by artandhome.net

  11. I am a huge fan of a bit of festive bunting. A bare corner can become full of Christmas magic with a touch of metallic bunting, but this idea could work with a whole range of colours and patterns. These were created by apartment34.com who likes to take the Scandinavian approach to Christmas.

  12. I am really liking this simple and minimalistic oversized letter board with a giant DIY Christmas wreath. I think it makes a beautiful and stylish piece of wall decor. On top of that the family, young and old, can have fun playing with the letters. welivedhappilyeverafter.com give a tutorial on how to create your own, giving you the freedom to make it exactly as you would like it.
